Our Vaults are self-custodial wallets, which means that the funds in them are unseizable. No one can interfere with your freedom to transact as you wish.
However, this freedom comes with responsibility. To ensure the safety of your funds, you must securely save and store your wallet backups.
The wallet backup is provided to you once during the setup of your Vault. The secure storage of your wallet backup is essential to the security of your funds and future wealth accumulation, so please take it seriously.
We never have access to or knowledge of your wallet backup at any point. Therefore, we cannot assist you if you lose your wallet backup. Losing your wallet backup means permanently losing access to your funds.
We recommend to follow our best practices for securing your wealth.
Be aware that there are separate wallet backups for your Bitcoin Vault and Ethereum Vault.
Your Bitcoin Vault includes a Vault password, a main key, and a backup key. Each of these keys consists of 12 English words.
The wallet backup of your Ethereum Vault consists of one key that also consists of 12 English words. All words of the keys for both Vaults must be included in the publicly available list of in total 2048 words.
It's important to note that you cannot restore your Ethereum Vault with the wallet backup of your Bitcoin Vault, and vice versa.
Always store your wallet backup offline, preferably on a piece of paper. Never store it on any digital medium.
Never share your wallet backup with anyone. If someone gets hold of it, they can steal all the funds in your Vault. Keep it in a secure place where no one can find it.
Consider making copies of your wallet backup so that if you lose one backup, you still have another one left.
Consider storing copies with family members you trust completely. You could even store parts of your wallet backup with different family members so that no one member is fully responsible for your funds, and only all family members together can help you recover your funds in case of an emergency. Also, consider this setup regarding questions of inheritance, as your heirs can only access your funds if they have access to your wallet backup.
If you plan to store a substantial amount of wealth in your Vaults, consider embossing your wallet backups on steel plates. This way, your wallet backup is protected against possible damage through fire and water. Several vendors offer such backup solutions.
If you need to restore your wealth using your wallet backup, you won't be dependent on us. The recovery of your funds doesn't rely on our app and is an independent process.
