The Ethereum Vault is not directly available in the app and has to be created first. A requirement for the creation and use of an Ethereum Vault is an activated Touch or Face ID, as outgoing transactions must be confirmed with your fingerprint or via facial recognition.
During the creation process, a personal key (private key) is generated for you, which serves as a cryptographic access to your funds. Your private key consists of 12 words and is irreplaceable, so it should be kept safe.
If you don't have any experience with non custodial wallets, we recommend you to read our best practices on wallet backups before you start creating your Ethereum Vault.
Instructions
-
If you haven't already done so, please enable touch or face ID in your smartphone. You may need to allow the Bitwala app to use this feature in the settings.
-
Log in to the Bitwala app, go to Account and then Ethereum Vault.
-
You will now be guided through the creation process step by step. You will need a pen, a piece of paper and silence.
-
Carefully write down the key that consists of 12 words, re-enter the key into the app without any errors, and finish the creation process.
That's it. You have successfully created a Ethereum Vault and can now receive, securely store and transfer Ether!
