The Bitcoin Vault is not directly available in the app and has to be created first. During the creation process, a personal key (private key) is generated for you, which serves together with your vault password as a cryptographic access to your funds.
Your Private Key consists of English word sequences and is irreplaceable, so it should be kept safe.
If you don't have any experience with non custodial wallets, we recommend you to read our best practices on wallet backups before you start creating your Bitcoin Vault.
Instructions
-
Log in to the Bitwala app, go to Account and then Bitcoin Vault.
-
You will now be guided through the creation process step by step. You will need a pen, a piece of paper and silence.
-
Carefully write down the main and backup keys, consisting of 12 English words each, and re-enter these keys into the app without any errors.
-
Set a Vault password. This password and the master and backup keys cannot be replaced and you must not lose this information.
That's it. You have successfully created a Bitcoin Vault and can now receive, securely store and transfer Bitcoin!
