Best practices
-

Each of these keys consists of 12 English words. The wallet backup of your Ethereum Vault consists of one key that also consists of 12 English words. All words for the keys for both Vaults must be included in the publicly available list of in total 2048 words. -
Always store your wallet backup offline, preferably on a piece of paper. Never store it on any digital medium.
-
Never share your wallet backup with anyone. If someone gets hold of it, they can steal all the funds in your Vault. Keep it in a secure place where no one can find it.
-
Consider making copies of your wallet backup so that if you lose one backup, you still have another one left.
-
Consider storing copies with family members you trust completely. You could even store parts of your wallet backup with different family members, so that no one member is fully responsible for your funds, and only all family members together can help you recover your funds in case of an emergency. Also consider this setup in regards to questions of inheritance, as your heirs can only access your funds if they have access to your wallet backup.
-
If you plan to store a substantial amount of wealth in your Vaults, consider to emboss your wallet backups on steel plates. This way, your wallet backup is also protected against possible damages through fire and water. There are several vendors that offer such backup solutions.
If you need to restore your wealth using your wallet backup, you won't be dependent on us. The recovery of your funds doesn't rely on our app and is an independent process.
